Influencer Marketing Workflow: Brief, Agreement and Evidence

A campaign workflow with distinct approval owners and a creator handoff worksheet, separating discovery research from outreach and execution.

An influencer marketing workflow should turn a campaign brief into a reviewed agreement, permitted asset and measured outcome. Discovery is one stage. A shortlist does not contact anyone, settle music rights, approve a script or publish an advertisement. Give each stage a concrete output and responsible person so assumptions do not travel into the final asset.

Write the brief and measurement definitions

State the viewer question, product, deliverable, platform and constraints. Define success before launch: a completed asset, public attention, useful questions or attributable orders are different outcomes. Record the data source and attribution limits for each. Do not promise sales because a candidate has strong public engagement.

Move from discovery to a reviewable candidate

  1. 1

    Discover examples

Use the relevant research surface and save originals, dates and role evidence. Creator Finder is Pro for TikTok, Instagram and YouTube; local and lookalike tools have different controls.

  2. 2

    Compare and clarify

Document observed skill, unknowns and exclusions. Ask about current availability, relevant reports and rights through an appropriate contact route.

  3. 3

    Agree the commercial terms

Specify deliverables, fee, expenses, dates, revisions, honest-opinion boundaries, disclosure and cancellation terms. Obtain appropriate review.

  4. 4

    Clear asset permissions

Resolve footage, photos, people, property, music, product access and exact reuse scope.

  5. 5

    Review and publish

Assign factual, claims, rights and production review to the responsible people; record approval and publication links.

  6. 6

    Measure and close

Use agreed reports and business records, document limitations and settle obligations.

Worked example: a kitchen appliance tutorial

A fictional team commissions a setup explanation and one separately licensed ad cut. The creator receives current product instructions and reports a limitation discovered in use. Factual review can correct the model name; it should not rewrite an honest experience into universal praise. The team reviews claims and rights before approving distribution.

  • Handoff sheet: stage; owner; required input; concrete output; due date; status; unresolved issue; approval record.
  • Agreement fields: product/model; original post versus licensed asset; raw footage; edit scope; channels; region; use term; paid account permission; disclosure; music rights.
  • Measurement fields: outcome definition; reporting period; data owner; creator permission; attributable link/code rules; returns/cancellations; known gaps.

Keep reports and rights scoped

YouTube Analytics authorization explains private report access. Request relevant authorized data with agreed definitions, rather than treating a public clip as a conversion report. Copyright Office photography is relevant to supplied photos. Possessing raw files, receiving an invoice and crediting the creator do not by themselves settle every use.

Inspect the final message

FTC endorsement questions provides endorsement context. Review the entire asset, caption and landing page with appropriate reviewers. Save the final version and approval scope. If the campaign materially changes, revisit the review rather than reusing an old approval automatically.

Operational limit

Superlurk supplies research in this workflow. Contacts, agreements, ad execution and saved follow-up checks remain separate actions. Start with an evidence shortlist.

Frequently asked questions

What should discovery deliver?

A candidate sheet with source evidence, proposed role, limitations and next questions.

Does a creator post agreement automatically include paid ad rights?

No. Define the required permissions, placements, edits, duration and other terms explicitly.

Who approves a campaign?

Assign actual owners for factual, claims, rights and production review; a discovery score is not approval.

How should I measure business outcomes?

Use agreed authorized reports and business records with clear attribution definitions and limitations.
